Summer Night Style: The Feminine Cami.
Bring out the Feminine Cami in the back of your closet.
I’m Dallas, artist and best selling fashion author. While I took some time to focus on the artwork, I still love to mix and match looks to get re-inspired by my closet. I’ll provide links and similar styles below. Feel free to leave questions and comments here if you have any.
Today, I’m sharing how to style that pretty, lace cami you couldn’t resist but somehow hasn’t made it out of your closet much. Styling something very feminine and floaty can be tricky. One wrong move and you’re channeling Princess Peach. Wearing this cami ( links below) with a white denim instead of blue instantly gives you a more elevated look, but without the right accessories it can feel dated. Choosing a shoe in the same palette that compliments the shade instead of matching the shade is an instant upgrade.
Your face is an equal part of the styling. Makeup plays a part and adding a matte, warm, chocolate brown to the eyelid with a black waterline will modernize the look, no mascara needed. No glitter. No light shimmer. Matte makeup here will keep the look feeling balanced. Don’t get glossy with the lip here, we are balancing the feminine with other textures and colors and a heavy gloss could go wrong fast.
While I’m normally a gold girl, silver and cowry shell accessories can make this feel more summery and the cool silver won’t feel like an added color in the palette. The most important piece here in an unexpected pair of sunglasses, something a bit more masculine will be the way to go here. Look for a square or elongated unexpected frame in black or dark brown. Hard rule: avoid your cat eye shades for this one.
